5 Tips For A Strong Brand Identity

A brand should connect emotionally. Branding includes logos, typography, colours, packaging, and messaging. Brand identity attracts new prospects to a brand while making existing customers feel at home. It’s both outbound and inbound.

1) Different- Stand out among the competition and catch the eye of the people.

2) Unforgettable – Influence through visual to make an impact. Let’s look at Nike, and the logo is so famous that Nike only includes the logo, not their name on their products

3) Scalable & Flexible – It can develop and evolve with the brand.

4) Consistent Matching – each piece complements the brand identity

5) Easy To Apply – It’s natural and clear for designers to use.

𝐈𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠?

I think some people are not committed to content marketing. Content marketing is required, and with regularity, it works.

On occasion, some marketers don’t utilize content marketing to the best of their abilities. Not employing a content marketing strategy can delay building a viable, lasting relationship with your target audience.

Content Marketing helps with the following:

1) Builds trust for your brand

2) Builds brand loyalty

3) Connects with clients

4) Gets your business message across

5) Promotes your service/product

6) Communicates with your customer

7) Learns how you can fulfil customer needs

How many people struggle with content marketing and then lose focus on creating content. Be consistent with content marketing and understand that, in reality, it is a process.

It’s a commitment to your marketing goals. You can’t convince people to believe in your brand until you show people you believe in it yourself. Stop asking people to invest in your brand when you don’t showcase an identity.

So, is content still king?

Have you been experiencing difficulties with Facebook’s low organic reach? Have you been discouraged from using #facebook to publish your valuable content?

Facebook is making some changes in how to use hashtags. The change will help hashtags increase #organicreach per posts.

Some people have already noticed pop-up notifications on Facebook that are motivating users to add #hashtags to their posts to improve the organic reach.

Some users have also started seeing a browse button that lets them see more hashtags relative to the content.

The hashtag feed page has also been given a new look & feel with Facebook’s branding colours. So, even if you can get a little bit of extra organic reach using hashtags, you should start using them.

Do you think you will want to start focusing on Facebook again if hashtags start becoming more productive?

3 Instagram Plans For Organic Reach

There are talks about Instagram’s organic reach going to be an all-time low. Let’s take a second to think about what Instagram’s plans are for the future.

Plan 1- Instagram creators will soon be able to monetize. So if you think Instagram’s organic reach will decrease, think of why they would let that happen before monetization.

Plan 2- Instagram Shop is coming soon. It would not be a wise choice to lower the organic reach since Instagram Shops wants merchants to sell on the platform, instead of using other e-commerce platforms. It would unwise of Instagram not to let products have strong impressions.

Plan 3 – Instagram has always adapted to the competition; let’s look at Snapchat Stories. Once Instagram started their version of stories, Snapchat took a big hit. Now with the serge of TikTok, Instagram has made it public that they will come out with Instagram Reel. This feature will be quite similar to TikTok, and since TikTok is known for its organic reach, Instagram will have to adapt to that level of organic reach.

What do you think about Instagram’s plan for organic reach?

Consistent Selling = Consistent Clients

If we want regular buyers, we need to sell consistently. Is marketing intimidating? Don’t have faith in making sales calls? Is it so overwhelming that it prevents us from even trying to sell our services for what we are worth?

When we want loyal buyers, we need to sell regularly.

If we use all our energy and effort to imagine all that could go wrong, we’re missing out on the possibilities of what could happen. In our attempts to avoid mistakes, we miss out on the incredible opportunities to achieve our income targets.

We ‘re recruiting clients at a rate that we’re consistently selling.

Sales don’t have to be that complicated, and we don’t need a broad audience before we can package and launch our premium service.

We can’t let another year go by when we’re battling the algorithm, fiddling on canvas, afraid to reveal our brand online.

We can fix someone else’s problems, and we know that we have a talent within us. We now have to stand up for ourselves and to contribute to sharing how we can support others.

To meet our profit targets, we need to communicate with our followers to show our followers importance.

How consistent are you?

The Do’s Of Social Media

If you want to succeed on social media, follow these five steps and avoid making common mistakes. Knowing these mistakes is critical. If you’re going to max out the benefits of social media, it’s vital to create an account with quality content that works with the algorithm.

  1. Be consistent- Posting consistently on social media will be worth it down the road because you will be building a quality reputation on social media platforms. Your audience will always see you, which helps your brand’s image.
  2. Engage with those who engage with you – Post and engage with the direct messages and the comments. Responding develops your reliability and demonstrates that you care. Let those know you are thinking of them and want you to be responsive, which will help with your reputation.
  3. Optimize Your Bio – Write a great bio. A bio with a great description is an opportunity to connect with your followers and profile visitors. It is an excellent way to let others understand your brand and bring them closer to contacting you in some way. Take Advantage.
  4. Post at the right times- Being consistent on social media is one thing, but knowing the best time to post to maximize engagement is another thing. Let people come across your content by posting at the right time. Check analytics moving forward.
  5. Post-high-quality content- Quality is essential. Stand out from the rest. Let people see how your performance compares to others. If you can post high-quality content often, you will see better results.

Staying focused on social media is essential since more and more people rely on social media for information, reviews, testimonials, and more. Following these steps will help your online presence.

How Self-Branding On Social Media Is Beneficial

Social media originally was to stay connected with family and friends. Let them know what we are up to and a place to showcase new and exciting events about our lives. Over the years, that has changed. Now some people use social for their self-brand. Before people plan their Saturdays to have fun, now people plan their Saturdays to get that right picture to post online. Some of it because to add to their brand or seeking gratification from others. Some might think it is sad? Some might think we have lost our ways? Are we desperate for acknowledgement? Either way, we rely on online platforms to brand ourselves, whether for business or personal.

If we are caring, knowledgeable, and or caring about a particular topic, then why not brand ourselves with technology to showcase our expertise and thoughts. We can use all these platforms to connect, engage, and interact with others within similar fields and industries. We have the opportunity to paint out who we are, and what we are about, and, most importantly, our why? Why do we know so much about a topic? How could others benefit from following our brand? Our brand lets us build a following. At first, we might gather a handful of people that believe in what we think; then, with consistency and momentum, we create the audience into more significant numbers. By raising our self-brands awareness, we attract those who are interested or like-minded. And together, we can grow into something better than what we were yesterday.

It is vital not to sit back and not share what our self-brand is about online. There are people online with the same passion, thoughts, and views. It would be wasteful not to connect and not combine forces to make something bigger and better.

Use our brand to attract those who appreciate our brand. Let those who understand our brand become our advocates. Then we will slowly see the power of branding online and how beneficial it is to use the online platforms to showcase our self-brand.

How are you branding yourself?

The Leaders Price

We have to be a leader to be unique. We have to stay hungry and never be satisfied. To take criticism and negativity and use it to fuel our greatness. Leaders have to survive storms and tough moments. To be Humble in the good times. These are what leaders need to do to lead.
It is sacrificing our today for a better tomorrow. It is living a few years of our life like others won’t, so we can spend the rest of our lives the ways others can’t.

That sacrifice, dedication, commitment, and discipline, only rare human beings have these qualities. Only the very best among us can stay determined and remain the focus of the task at hand.

Then there is a failure. Because we all know it is coming, it is human nature. It is part of the process. Find me a successful human that has never failed, and it is ok, I’ll wait. Most likely, you can’t, because they don’t exist.
The only difference the successful person who didn’t give up. He found a way when there seemed to be no way. The Other guy threw in the towel.

What makes a good leader in your mind?

Imagine What You Want. Then Work For It.

It may sound cliche, but anyone can achieve anything if they set their mind to it. Some people waste time chasing people; instead, we should be focussing on ourselves. We need to do our work. If we do it efficiently, it will be hard, but if we do it hard, it will be easy. Hard work always succeeds.

If we want anything, we need to visualize it first, then feel it, and finally believe it.

Most successful people are not gifted; they work hard on their craft, then success comes naturally. We need to get the skills and then work for it. All the hard work, in the end, will pay off, we need to be patient. A weak body can be a healthy body by slowly working on the fragile body because eventually, the frail body slowly turns into a healthy body. Same with the mind, a weak mind can become a sharp mind by taking out the thought holding you back. Same with business, think of what you want and find out how to get it. The road to your dream is full of failure. Keep working on it, and it will happen.

What do you dream of the most, and what work is required to get there?

What To Do When You Lose

In grade three, our teacher taught us how to play chess. I fell in love with chess because of problem-solving and mental warfare. I remember a chess teacher came to our school and asked us about losing a game of chess and why it is okay to fail and who likes to lose? I still remember twenty-something years later I raised my hand and said I liked it because I can learn from my mistakes and see someone is better than me. How did I learn this at a young age?

When we lose in anything, a sporting match, board game, contest or some business deal. We need to see how we can get better. Where can adjustments be made to build off? Go back to the drawing board and find out how the next time you won’t, lose; instead, you won. Learn from your mistakes and learn from your adversary. They beat you for a reason or two, gain that information and implement it into your next chance to shine.

What do you do after you lose?

Let Negativity Go

Our brain is full of good and bad memories. A big part of why we remember is because of the emotion associated with that memory. We remember how we feel at that time. Unfortunately, we let the negative experiences bring us back to the place of discomfort. We need to let go of all of that. Why do some of us dwell and go back to a place of bad emotion? By not letting go of badness, we train our mind and body to go back into that dark hole. By letting it go and thinking about the future, we train our body for the better. Negative thoughts and experiences are more harmful than we think. It is very crucial to forget it and move forward. Think about the present or the future. It is better to train on how to be ready for the present moment and the future. We can’t think about the past. That part of your story is over, and that was an older version of you. It is not who you are now. Why remember an older version of you? There is still a new you developing day by day.

Think of now and what you want in the future. If you can see yourself in a particular situation and then eventually get there, your mind and body will already be there, and it won’t be much of a surprise to you. Training to think forward instead of the past will make it more of a habit, and your body will be more accustomed to it. Then it will be more of a natural feeling for everyday life.

How do you let go of past negative emotions?

Have A To-Do List Instead Of A Dream

I have a friend who once said, ” I don’t have dreams. I have a to-do list.” Big or small, if we have a dream, we shouldn’t stop chasing our dreams because dreams do come true. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. We should focus on aiming high and dreaming big. To achieve some of our goals, we need to be committed, dedicated, and consistently working. That is how we deliver what we ultimately want.

I believe I receive

Dreams are just dreams until we take action and have a plan. Once we write down our ideas, they become goals. Dreams always do come true. It takes lots of hard work, patience and failure, but all you have to do is start somewhere and focus on your goals. If we don’t give up and Success will follow.

I will persist until I succeed – Les Brown

Real Success takes time. There will be times when nothing happens, and all of a sudden, there will be weeks where decades happen. We can only do so much in one day. We can’t be so hard on ourselves. Patience is key. We will get what we want, but it might take longer than expected. Let’s take the time to master what we need to learn, build networks, connections, and mentors. We must have the courage to make something bigger than ourselves.

How is your to-do list looking?

Step Back

I had a plan to blog every day for two months. Then I hit a roadblock, not with writing content or thinking of what to write. It was mostly to take a step back and revaluate myself as a person, as a brand, and my way of thinking. My last blog was about taking that first step, which is the hardest. Although some of my actions have been going forward in motion, I had to take a step back.

I had an interesting conversation with a successful individual, and he explained his road map from high school to where he is now in life. He broke it down step by step, task after task, and now he is where he wants to be and loving it. He knew what steps he had to take, and he took them. That made me think about my steps towards what I want and what I need to do. After listening to his story, made rethink my journey and my roadmap. I went from writing about taking the first step to saying it is part of the journey to take action back.

The saying take two steps back to move one step forward makes sense when we apply it. Depending on individual situations, we need to make adjustments and pivot. I got a bit tired of walking, and it wasn’t because of the process, it was because I had a small feeling that they were the wrong steps. So I took a couple of steps back and designed a new roadmap for my journey. I feel more competent in my plan and willing to make more adjustments on the way. Every step counts, as long as you are moving in the right direction, and sometimes moving back to move forward is a good play.

Keep moving, and don’t give up. Some people walk faster than others, some take more significant steps, some are better with directions, some understand maps, and some can’t even read maps. Some even use a compass. The main thing is sometimes if we have to go back and modify, that is part of the walk.

What do you do when you take a step back?

That First Step

Why is it the first step is always the hardest? Is it because of the thousand of things holding us back? If we take the first step is the hardest part over?

Many of us look for reasons and give up without even starting. But if we take that first step, put in the time, and never think of giving up when things get complicated. Is the secret of getting ahead is to get starting?

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The first step builds momentum. The first step towards success is always the hardest as we are new to it, but as we move further, it gets easier. We have to keep trying and believe in the process.

At each point in our business, there’s always a “first step.” It could be hiring, expanding. This doesn’t apply to the first step in building a business but also all the other first steps that come afterwards.

It is like jumping off a cliff to the beautiful lake or river below. That jump takes courage. Once we are swimming below, we’ll be so glad we dove in.

We can’t let difficulty, in the beginning, deprive you of the joy after. There is always joy later. We can’t aim to aim to finish the race if you don’t start the race.

What is holding you back for that first step?

It’s Okay To Be Misunderstood During Your Journey

If we want to go on with our ideas and achieve success, we must be willing to be misunderstood for an extended period. If we want success, we have to show people your results, not our plans. We’ll be mistaken in our journeys. That should not stop us from strengthening us.

Build your idea around something you love, something that’s inherently and endlessly interesting to you. The best way to do that is by following your passion. IF our dreams are big, people will mock us for them. These people won’t help you succeed. We are not going to stand out unless we think big and have genuinely original ideas. This comes from tapping into our creativity, not obsessing over what everyone else is doing.

Our dreams are often at odds with our realities, demanding freedom and resources we may not have. But this doesn’t make them impossible to achieve. Keep pushing hard and never give up.

Focus on the mission. People without a vision won’t understand. It is our idea, not anyone else’s. Sometimes we need to be misunderstood. Then eventually make those understand. Being misunderstood allows us to make others see what we meant in the first place.
Have you had any ideas where you people misunderstood you?

Make One Better To Make The Community Better

The Instagram post where the CFO asks the CEO, “What happens if we invest in developing our people, and they leave us?” And then the CEO responds, ” What happens if we don’t, and they sat?” We have to build people to form stronger communities and create a world of highly skilled people. Train someone to someone to improve. You might not personally profit from it, but the community will. If we invest time with them and make them feel part of the team, they will stay within the community.

We can develop them enough so that other companies may want them but cherish them enough so that they don’t want to leave. If we don’t build our people, they will stay average, and so will our team. We should always develop our people so they can develop others. Our team culture and forward-thinking brings value because we want others to succeed, which won’t go unnoticed.

There is a certain level of risk in all. Still, if we can create an environment and stack the odds in our favour for our team, then our business long term will grow into something better than it originally was without developing our people.

How do you develop those around you?

Keep Improving After Celebration

There isn’t just one milestone. We don’t tell ourselves, let’s get through this situation, and that’s it we are done. All successful entrepreneurs didn’t stop after they accomplished their first milestone. Mark Cuban, created broadcast.com, sold it for 6 million, then started audionet, sold it 4 billion, bought the Dallas Mavericks, won a championship, bought landmark theatres, and invested in companies and property.

Just like skiing, the goal isn’t to just get to the bottom of the hill. The goal is to have a bunch of good runs before the sunsets. – Seth Godin

What we should tell ourselves after a milestone, is that we need the next one, there is always more. We can’t say yay we hit our goal, and we are done, let’s relax now. That is how business is. It is a series of obstacles. To overcome the barriers and achieve greatness.

We have to look at what we can do next. We can’t stay stagnant and not grow to be better. Playing it safe is a risky play if not more dangerous than taking risks. Not looking to improve and adapt means your competition will and then eventually surpass you.

What’s the next milestone for you?

Problem Solving Leads To Improvement

Do we want to get better? Are we struggling with a difficult task? Good, let that struggle make us overcome any obstacles we come across. By overcoming any dilemma, we slowly improve in that area. Improvements are developed by figuring out challenging problems. Difficult tasks need problem-solving, and that makes us better. Thinking of all the different ways to adapt to any situation lets us grow into something better.

Through problem-solving teaches us our personal awareness. What we go through shows us our strengths and weaknesses. By realizing where improvements are needed, this will make us better long term.

When companies ask for experience, it means how many problems have you faced and how many of them did you solve. We always need to be learning, so when we do face a challenge, we are competent enough to think of a solution. That’s why they say every problem has a solution. Once we figure out a problem, it won’t be a problem anymore. Our experience will make it an easy fix, and when we face a more difficult challenge, our experience will let us come up with a way to surpass any obstacle. Only through hardships, we find out what we can do and come up with a way to overcome the difficulty.

How do you overcome severe problems?

Always give your best effort even when the odds are against you. Do your best and stay in your lane, there’s less traffic there. Be the best you can be and do the right thing, even when no one is looking. No matter what it is, always give your best. It should be a habit that you give your best in everything because you never know what you could achieve. Be consistent with your efforts. Good things will come from it.

Whatever is holding you back or making you stressed won’t make you get better. Erase the dark thoughts, overthinking, and doubt from your mind. Let clarity replace confusion. Let peace and calmness guide you to a better state of mind.

We Must Look Up Not Down

After every moment of defeat or downtime, we look down. Those images of people sitting on a park bench looking down when they are either sad or defeated give us the emotion to feel bad for that individual. They can only see their shoes and the ground, which isn’t the prettiest sight. Instead of looking downwards, let’s lookup. The saying keeps your head up is a beautiful meaning because you can see more of what’s around you rather than looking down. The longer we look down, the more we miss out on the bigger picture. Keeping our heads up lets us see more of the possibilities and opportunities that are down the road for us.

If you lose a match and see the other team winning, putting our heads down means that hard work was for nothing, not true, you gave everything you had and lost to the better team. Look up and see their enjoyment, then use that to make yourself better, so one day you’ll be where they are. That is why keeping our head down can prevent us from seeing the end goal. We need to see the whole picture. What hard work means, what the grind is all about. We cant see the keys to success if our vision is entirely downwards.

Keeping our head down shows weakness and no confidence. Head up, let us see what’s coming and to help us prepare for any obstacle coming our way. We can’t do anything with our head down, maybe the only time to have our down is to stretch, but eventually when must raise our heads back up again. There isn’t any other reason to have our head down, only for that moment of defeat. With any down moment means there is a problem, and with problems means there is a solution. The more questions we have, the more answers we have. And the more problems we figure out, the better we become. Having our head down means we are in a bad situation, and adverse conditions have opportunities and possibilities to grow good or even sometimes better.

What makes you raise your head after a down moment?

How Marketing and Branding Are Like Dating

If you are a marketer or someone who does branding, you probably heard of marketing vs branding. Marketing is asking someone out on a date. Branding is the reason they say yes. Both are extremely important for any business. Marketing is the groundwork you put in before you ask someone on a date. Marketing is where buyers and sellers meet. Marketing changes human behaviour. One of the best marketing strategies ever is to care. After the buyers and sellers meet, that is where branding comes into play. Anyone can market themselves, but branding is key to success and the most critical key to making a lot of profit. It makes people spend more money on the same product or service because they can relate to the brand and have an idea of the entire process (buyers journey).

Very similar to there are 1000 fish in the sea, throw a big net and see what you catch, when marketing, marketers tend to throw a big net trying to catch all the types of fish in the sea. Instead, they should be throwing smaller fishing nets for a particular kind of fish, pick the ones you want. Your fishing net isn’t for everyone. Some fish are bigger than others; some swim deeper than others; that is why while marketing, it is vital to go after the people you want to ask out on a date. You won’t ask someone who isn’t your type. Let your marketing make a difference for those who matter. Go after your ideal people. Don’t waste time and resources for those who don’t matter. You won’t ask someone on a date if they already found the product or service of their dreams elsewhere since they already committed to a lifelong deal.

Every post is an ad for your brand. Are you salesy or helpful? How is your net? Is it eye-catching? Does it bring fishes in? Do they know the experience they will get with your net? These are considered when branding comes into play. People think about everything that goes around the product, and they don’t just think of the product or service, they think about the entire process (buyers journey). Will the transaction be fast and easy? Does the purchase last longer than other checkouts? Is there something unique in the deal, or is it a one and done quick exchange, and that’s it? Can there be a long-lasting relationship? Or is it just a summer fling? What will my family and friends think if I get involved? Will they call after our transaction? What if they do this with all of their customers? All these thoughts are considered when deciding on a product or service, and that is what makes or breaks a brand. No one wants to get involved if they will be heartbroken in the end.

That is why we put in the groundwork with the marketing, and branding is what makes someone say yes, they want to engage with this experience and be part of what this person(company) has to offer. As marketers, we can’t please everyone. We can only satisfy the ones we want to please. That is why it is essential to go after the ones we want and benefit from our product or service. We can showcase everything we have to offer, but branding makes us stand out compared to the competition. When you eventually ask your customer out on a date, make sure you are the right brand for them. Throw your net to the fishes you want to attract. (market to the right customers for your brand)

How accurate are the statements marketing is asking someone out, but branding is why they say yes?

Conversations That Matter

When discussing ideas, thoughts, opinions, and dreams, every person in the conversation should leave the discussion with either more insight, knowledge or a new way of looking at something. Conversations need to have stories, ideas, and conclusions. Some conversations need agreements and disagreements; that is what makes them fascinating. What is the point of talking and not gaining anything from it? Sharing our thoughts and ideas should drive emotion in the listeners. Talk about situations, issues, and scenarios; if not, everyone can handle other people’s opinions, then that conversation doesn’t matter. Every communication has to be a healthy conversation. These conversations matter because we all have different ways of gaining knowledge and information, and sharing with others can make us more aware of and knowledgeable about specific topics. Waisting time on useless issues and unhealthy conversations don’t get anyone anywhere, and that’s not what it should be about when we are talking to other people. Conversations allow us to learn new ideas, thoughts, opinions and dreams. These are the types of communications that make us grow and let us share this growth with others. Hopefully, more people will grow through words that will have a more significant impact on groups, communities, and relationships.

What’s your favourite part when conversing with someone?

Ups And Downs

Would we be the person we are today without any ups and downs? Has it always been sunshine and roses? Journies are tough, some extremely tough. Does one eventually feel grateful after countless moments of defeat, since it shapes who we are today? Did the tough moments teach us how to handle things we never thought we could?

Those moments define us; that’s what allows us to overdeliver. Coming back from some hard knocks makes us stronger and sets a new path to success. How can we learn without getting knocked once or twice? It helps us adapt to different situations, which is not a bad thing because we learn a lot more from knockdowns than success. Our attitude towards any situation makes a difference. We all need ups and downs in our lives to grow, to better know ourselves, to understand the rest of the world, to recognize our surroundings, and to realize our real strengths.

We don’t like the motion of ups and downs, but it sure creates a unique person. Let the ups and downs teach us and keep moving forward. The ups and downs in life define us and make us who we are or want to be in the end.

What is one moment that stands out that shaped who you are today?

My good friend, Emily, posted a beer she was enjoying, and coincidentally my mom was drinking the same beer that day. I tell Emily, “hey, my mom was drinking that exact beer today too.” Emily asked me if my mom liked the beer? I said, “actually, my mom was not a fan of the beer.” Emily responded,” Really? I like it. Does your mom regularly drink beer?” I said, “yeah, she does, but don’t worry, beer is subjective, just because one person doesn’t like it means it’s bad.” Emily responded,

“obviously, everyone’s taste and taste preferences are different.”

Not just with beer, but everything. If someone has an idea, and they share the idea with the public, and some don’t like it, it doesn’t make the idea a bad idea. If we enjoy something and someone else doesn’t, it doesn’t mean what we like is terrible. We all have our likes and dislikes. We can all agree or disagree. The most important thing is to respect the other person’s views and realize what we think may differ from others, and that is okay. If we don’t agree on a particular topic, we can have a healthy debate/discussion. Everyone’s thoughts are different. If we can’t think differently and have different tastes, wouldn’t we live in an uninteresting world? It is okay to believe and like certain things, and it’s okay for the other person as well.

What’s something you like that most don’t like?

It depends. Some social media celebrities reuse content from other platforms. Since they already have high quality edited videos, they can easily upload to TikTok. At first, celebrities often upload more than one video a day. New TikTok accounts to post more frequently because they want to show their value and gain a following as fast as they can. When their accounts get bigger and start to gain a large following, they tend to slow down because they need to make sure their quality is good for the bigger audience. A bit more pressure is now on the creator. Now that they have the right amount of followers, they need to show their followers why they should keep following and not unfollow.

I know a few accounts will film one long video and take snippets from the video and post it on TikTok gradually. For the most part, when starting to make a name for yourself, most TikTokers make videos every day. They say, on average, 1 to 3 videos a day is ideal for creating your account grow. TikTok favours those who are committed to the app since you are bringing value to the users and keeps them from leaving the app.

How often do you post on TikTok?

What We Have In Common With Flowers

I experienced my first winter in eight years because where I was in China, it didn’t compare to the winters we have here in Ottawa. Most days, this winter was cold and snowy. I heard the typical complaints of winter, but it was nice to see since it brought back so many memories. One of the most exciting parts for me was during winter made me look forward to spring. Canada being spacious and green compared to other counties, is beautiful. Being away for so long, and seeing it first hand again for the first time in eight years is exciting.

Today is the first day in eight years I can see dandelions, not going to lie I forgot the name of the flowers and had to search the name up—part of being away in so long. I have to say seeing so much yellow mixed in with grass green, makes me think I can get used to this again. Today is only the first day, can’t wait until spring rolls into summer.

Back to the story, Seeing a ground full of snow, then muddy terrains, to grass and dandelions, it made me think of the life cycle of this simple flower is fascinating. It comes from the ground up in a slow process, and no matter what the winter does, they come back.

It made me think that when we try to grow better in any way, we slowly grow into what we want to be. Besides dandelions, all flowers start small and break out of the seed and gradually increase with water, sunlight, and nutrients from the earth’s soil. In a corny way, we are similar to that of a flower. We start small add skills and knowledge and slowly grow into something worth taking notice. Flowers need time to grow, so do we. We can’t plant a flower and expect results right away. We can’t rush anything that needs time to develop. Consistency and patience are vital when it comes to growth. For us, improving daily will eventually blossom into something great. If we don’t take care of the flower, it won’t last, the same with us.

Have you blossomed yet?_________________________________________________________________

Stay Positive

Moments of self-doubt and failure can slow down the progress. Staying positive is the best thing one can do. When we have an idea or a dream and the others say no, can’t, impossible doesn’t mean it is negative and maybe a misinterpretation. Maybe the explanation wasn’t clear enough. So next time, we can explain our idea or dream by trying a new delivery. If there is a point where success and achieving your goal are getting too hard or slowly becomes frustrating, that is part of the journey. It becomes part of the story.

Thinking to oneself about all the negative ideas and outcomes will do more damage than failing. Remain positive and continue to endure the hardships. The result will be more rewarding and makes the story that much better. The positive mentality can act as a shield and protect us from the negativity that slows us down.

Positive thinking takes us to a new level and makes us stronger; it adds to the recipe for staying focused. If we aren’t positive during hardships and setbacks, how will negativity help? Staying positive is key. Negativity slowly eats us away and distracts us and makes us create a judgement. Staying positive brings us to a place where we can see how ideas or dreams become a success.

How do you stay positive during hardships?

Marketing in 2020

Now marketing needs to be emotional. Connect to others with feelings before it was products and key buzz words to get the attention of others. But now, people want to be touched. They want to know that they are being heard and listened to. B2C is not what it was before. The sales funnel as changed. Asking for the sale is the last thing we should do first. We, as marketers, need to give give give give give give give give. A new customer needs to see your brand seven times before they will even consider you. Now marketers need to provide value also to be found. Raise your brand’s awareness of cold prospects. Then slowly build the trust down the sales funnel.

A critical stat, businesses need to be aware of are the cost of acquisition and return on ad spend (ROAS). Traditional marketing won’t work as the past. We have machine learning that helps businesses get very specific when they want to make custom ad campaigns.
The truth is that when businesses start to use machine learning for their customer acquisitions, they need to offer something first in return.

To me, I love it. Companies need to win the trust of future customers by providing valuable content. Businesses need to compete with their competition, but they need to do it in a way where they offer something for free. It can be a small pdf, ebook, or a complimentary meeting, but down the road, it will only become more challenging for businesses. As a consumer, we will be at a point where we sit back and let companies fight for our attention before they fight over our hard-earned money.

How far do you think businesses will go to get consumer’s attention going forward?

Being Different

The word different can make or break a deal—the word different shows how something is better or worse. Being different attracts a specific type of crowd and pushes a particular group away. Some like changed, and some don’t. Some embrace different, and some are embarrassed by it. Every person, city, country, language, culture is different in some way. Being different makes your brand stand out. Being different shows people a way that they have never seen, or thought about, and once they notice the different opinions start to come out. With views comes feed back. That is what different creates. New ideas, new thoughts, and unique conversations show that being different can make us think to ourselves.

Natural differences show authenticity and create curiosity. We need to be different, unless how much fun would it be if nothing was changed. If you are trying to make a brand, we must show how we are different. If we like someone, we need to show how we are different to portray our value. If we are business, we need to show how we are different compared to the competitors.

How to come up with being different?

Think of what is usually normal and a small twist. Being predictable can be a weakness. Try being unpredictable. Be different and make a difference; that’s how we take a second glance or grab one’s attention. No one cares for the normal, mostly everything is normal and doesn’t excite us. The small factor of being different, now that brings excitement.

What is something different about you?

Step by Step

Why is the first step, usually the hardest? How come some of us take so long to make that first step? Do we think the road ahead is going to bumpy with full of ups and downs? Are we not ready for that type of journey? Is staying in one place more comfortable than being uncomfortable. Perhaps the shoes are too heavy; maybe the weather is not to our liking. Maybe our map is outdated. We can come up with so many reasons why we don’t take that first step.

If we want to make any progress, we need to start moving our feet step by step. Even if they are baby steps, the process of development is part of the journey we should enjoy the most. Seeing those small improvements brings us to a place where we never were before and takes us to new a place. In mandarin, there is a saying 慢慢来 Man Man Lai, slow, slow come. Every time someone made a huge difference was by taking the first step at some point. Everyone’s journey is not the same, some people’s journeys are longer than others, and some are shorter than others. We all have different roads. We can’t compare our ways to others, some people’s rides are more comfortable than others, and some are harder than others, but we all have something we frequent, we can all take steps. Some steps are more significant, more extended, steeper, higher, and bumpier, but we all have a chance to share a story about our first steps.

What will be the first step that you need to take to make progress?

Open Up and Feel Lighter

Holding a piece of news can become cumbersome for one’s body, mind and soul. Some of us want to share a specific type of story, but sometimes begin to FUD. We fear because of the unknown and then become doubtful. FUD creates negative thoughts and starts to bring down the idea that our specific story isn’t as good as initially thought. We want to share, but we overthink and end up not sharing. Then we begin to think of how come sharing can backfire. Perhaps, we become shy and embarrassed. The truth is, the truth hurts, and most of us don’t want to endure any pain.

The real truth is that we can’t get anywhere if we don’t open up.

Opening up begins new stories and puts older stories in a previous chapter. We need to keep writing our stories. Telling our story can take a lot of weight off. We will go in a new direction and make progress when we express ourselves.

How else can we find new approaches?

How else can we adapt?

How else can we make a change?

We can realize more about the relationship by opening up. The only way we can understand each other is by sharing our stories. If we want to feel lighter and realize a bit of relief, the only way is to share our story, and we can see what the other side thinks and adapt accordingly. This is a powerful way to connect. Some of us might be surprised by the outcome, it may work in our favour, it may not, but it is worth sharing and knowing where everyone stands.

By opening up, we make our body, mind, and soul feel lighter.

Do you regret not opening up at some point? How come? Or, did you open up and felt better?

The Waiting Game

The waiting game is challenging. Sometimes we wait so long it is not worth waiting at all. We expect and wait, and finally, we get what we waited for and ends up not being what we thought. That is what makes it so challenging.

How do we balance wait with not waiting?

When do we go for it, and when do we wait?

Sometimes waiting long enough isn’t worth it because of the time used to wait. We can always start tomorrow and constantly make more excuses to makes us feel better about waiting. Waiting too long lets us create more problems in our thoughts and makes the waiting more challenging.

Sometimes not waiting and going for it is better.

Instead of waiting, take small attempts. Making small increments is better than sitting around, waiting for the perfect time. Slowly build confidence. Step by step, put the pieces together, even if it only one piece at a time. Waiting can be a massive downfall to one’s goal. Let’s not wait any more, let’s go.

What are you waiting for?

Play to Get Better Not to Win

Winning is terrific since your hard work finally pays off and shows dominance. You are more recognized and builds a reputation for success. But, for how long?

The potential downfall for some is that once they have the sense of winning, they think that’s it the job is complete. In sports, you hear of the championship hangover, and in business, you see companies not willing to make significant changes because they don’t want to mess up a good thing. Since winning makes us feel on top of the world and sometimes untouchable, for those who adapt to that mentality, winning can weaken you. On occasion, victories can undermine you and can even defeat you long term. Winning doesn’t mean taking your foot off the pedal; winning means a bigger target on your back, and getting better is the only way to avoid being taken down.

You play to win the game is good for the short run, but getting better is more beneficial for the long term.

Instead of overvaluing success, we should guide our focus on getting better. Winning one big client or a championship is fantastic, but how can we get better is the most crucial step after succeeding. Every successful individual or organization always looked to get better; the ones who overvalued one piece of success and didn’t try to improve someway ends up getting left behind. All the great athletes always tried to get better and better until their body said no more. All big organizations continue to come up with innovations and ideas to improve. Getting to the top is hard, but staying there is more laborious. That is why when we play, it should be to get better not to win.

Why do you play? Is it to get to win or to continue to get better?

Humanize Your Brand On Social Media

Humans like humans. With the help of social media, we can show we are more than a brand; it shows we are human too. Social media marketers need to connect to people on a human level. The challenge for many marketers is to come up with content that builds relations through thoughts and emotions. Marketers need to humanize our brand through empathetic storytelling. Social media lets show that we have a lot in common with our following. It proves we understand their needs and wants, and we want to show we feel what you think and say. We know what you like and don’t like. By showing the human side of our brand, people can relate to it since we refer to their stories. We can demonstrate to them that we realize their hardships, and gives us the chance to show encouragement and support. Social media allows us to exhibit a side that most other companies don’t even attempt to prove. Humanizing a brand builds trust. We enjoy cooperating with those we trust. Unfortunately, a big part of social media artificially and hides many truths. It is our job to show validation that we are humans, too, and we want to connect with those we can relate to on a human level.

How do you humanize your brand on social media?

Jump Back On The Horse Or The Horse Will Run

Sometimes we fail and don’t go back to try to succeed. We let the opportunity run away from us. We feel lost; the feeling of defeat and discouragement is heavy for anyone who was thinking and hoping for the opposite result. Some of us let our dreams only focus on the positive, we don’t think about the possible adverse outcomes, and once reality hits and it wasn’t what we dreamed about, we can feel more hurtful rather than the feeling of success. What some of us fail to realize, the horse is still next to us, and we need to not only get up and accept defeat. We need to jump back on the house and keep riding our horses to our dreams. The horse will run away, and our journey will take even longer. The horse is more energetic and faster and doesn’t want to stay still. It wants to go the distance. Falling off the horse happens; getting back on the horse is a choice. Sometimes a tough decision. However, if we want to succeed, we need to jump back on the horse or the horse will run.

Can you share a story where you jumped back on the horse?

Why Complaining Is Toxic

Negativity can bring many people down to a point where they complain to others. It is tough to say because of certain circumstances; people feel they need to vent. The problem is, in some cases, complaining can ruin one’s life. It can affect their work, family, and friends. No one wants to be around someone who sucks the energy out of the room. It drains positive energy, and it is exhausting. When most people complain, they release the tension that they feel with a specific situation without realizing they are creating a toxic environment. Unleashing their pain and dumping it onto others is not ideal for any scenario. Why does one need to bring misery to others? We can live with our problems and not let it affect the ones around us.

Instead, let’s show our enthusiasm. Let’s bring value into a room, raise everyone’s energy, make people want to be around us. Our negative thoughts will slowly drift away and make more room for positive thoughts by creating a positive reputation. Positivity is contagious in the right way. A positive attitude would instead surround us.

Do you think complaining is harmful to others?

Different Is The Inspiration For Creativity

If we want to be creative, we need to find inspiration. We need to incorporate inspiration into our creativity. The inspiration should be trying to be different. Since creativity is mainly about being different, to find inspiration for our creativity, we need to find a way to make something normal and to make it different, just the slightest bit, then keep making it more unusual. Take something so simple then add a small twist to it.

Keep using different for inspiration when it comes to creativity.

If you see any creative ideas, figure out why it is creative. How is it different? Did they add a story? Did they add colours? Did they add words? Did they combine two ideas to make a new one? Once we see the differences, we can start to think differently. Different should be the inspiration to our creativity.

Once we see something ordinary, think of how we can add a bit of difference. The word different pushes certain people away, but it also attracts certain people, and often, it attracts the right people.

How do we measure success with our creativity? If one person notices our creativity and comments, then we know we have some level of success. Even if some people are not a fan of our creative work, we know we made people think and spark emotion. It may not be the result we were looking for, but now we know our inspiration caused changed in one’s mind. If some people like our work, then they will draw inspiration from it. To measure success is to feel the thoughts and emotions of others. If our creativity did not get the results we are looking for, then we have to find more inspiration for being different.

How are you being creative?

Building Your Brand Through Social Media

Social media is changing the way we communicate and market ourselves. I use social media to utilize to grow my brand and connect with more relevant individuals. In the past week, I had the chance to be a guest on a podcast and had a small mention in a blog. If it weren’t for social media, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to expand my network and share my thoughts and experiences.

By providing valuable insight and sharing my story, how can others see what I am about and what I have done? Everyone how has a journey and not everyone’s story is the same. That is why it is essential to use social media to communicate with those that matter. Showcasing your brand on social media is vital because people want to know who is on the other side of the screen. Now is the time to use social media to connect with experts, influencers, creators, bloggers, anyone who can help you take steps moving forward. Even if they are small steps, any action is getting you closer to where you want to be. Also, if you take two steps back and turn left, you are moving closer to your destination. Social Media lets you market yourself, even if one person notices, that can make a huge difference. Maybe that one person tells another person.

My biggest tip would be to use social media to be social. The people you want to connect with spend a reasonable amount of time active online, and it is not hard to find them. Find them through related accounts and hashtags. Provide meaningful value and interact. The more you interact, the more you will gain. The opportunity is there, be social on social media, that is the whole point.

So from 1 to 10, how well are you using Social Media for your brand? 1 = not well 10=  being exceptionally well, and how come?

Empathy Goes A Long Way

Empathy towards others helped me build my brand to create many opportunities. As a Canadian entrepreneur in China for eight years, I developed my brand by being empathetic to locals and fellow ex-pats. By being empathetic, I developed new business connections and friends from all over. The ability to understand and share my feelings with others enhanced my network. Whether it be emotional, cognitive, and or compassionate empathy, you build a better bond. In business, we must try to under the thoughts and feelings inside the head of the other person. Having an empathetic conversation builds courage and a powerful empathetic relationship. The curiosity we get when we talk to people who are not in our regular circle expands our empathy. Encountering opinions and views other than our own builds a human connection. Humans like humans, showing how your brand is humanized rather than artificial, is encouraging and supportive. Understanding their thinking and motivation builds successful teamwork and leadership. Don’t be an observer; be the researcher. The power of listening and acknowledging their pain let me show gratitude to that person for opening up. Then sharing how I feel after makes me look vulnerable as well. Taking off our masks and revealing our feelings to someone is vital for creating a strong empathic bond. At the same time, it shows interest, encouragement, and support. When we exchange our most valuable experiences, we grow together.

How has empathy helped you along the way of success? It can be personal or in business.
